Ikea’s Clever Sleepy Posters

To promote their latest line of bedding products, IKEA is cleverly positioning sleep as the next fad for a boost of morning energy. As part of a new out-of-home campaign, IKEA created life-size posters that depict various bedding products replacing our favorite energizers, such as beauty creams, supplements and energy drinks. For example, in one ad, a moisturizer vial is filled with an IKEA duvet and labeled “Sleep: The Most Natural Anti-Aging Remedy.”

The campaign feels especially appropriate as consumers across the world are dealing with COVID-19 induced stress and insomnia. Earlier this month, IKEA also released a commercial highlighting how a lack of sleep could have influenced the famous tortoise & hare children’s story. A Lit Collaboration Between McDonald’s & Travis Scott

Can you think of a more unlikely pair than rapper Travis Scott and McDonald’s? In an unexpected move, the two recently collaborated on a line of merchandise and advertisements. The campaign features vintage McDonald’s branding combined with Scott’s apparel line, Cactus Jack, and a new song written by Scott for the TV commercial.

McDonald’s is even showcasing Scott’s favorite meal (a Quarter Pounder with bacon, fries with BBQ sauce and a Sprite, for those who are curious) at the “It’s Lit!” price of $6. Aviation Gin Eases Parents’ Homeschooling Pain

With many kids staying home from school in favor of virtual learning during the pandemic, parents are understandably feeling the stress. Aviation Gin owner Ryan Reynolds gets it, and this month, the brand released a “Home School” edition of the liquor. The mega-sized bottle holds 1.75 liters of gin to “help with a variety of subject fourth-grade geography, whatever the f—k new math is, and revisiting your own, long-forgotten middle school traumas,” Reynolds jokes.

Ryan Reynolds is often heralded for the advertising savviness of his various ventures, including Aviation Gin, Mint Mobile and Deadpool. What do you think of his latest effort? Watch the video and let us know in the comments. https://people.com/food/ryan-reynolds-new0aviation-gin-home-school/

A Saturday Morning Cartoon Comeback

General Mills is taking Gen-Xers and Millennials back to yesteryear. The food brand is bringing back the original recipes for favorite breakfast cereals from the 80s, including Golden Grahams, Cocoa Puffs and Cookie Crisps. To help promote the cereals’ return, General Mills and Mario Lopez will hold a drive-in event featuring classic 80s Saturday morning cartoons. They’ll also livestream the show on the Tribeca Film Festival website and send the first 100 participants samples of the cereal.

The campaign hopes to give stressed-out adults a return to the comforts of their childhood. Other food brands, such as Chipotle and Pepsi, have also recently sponsored livestreams to entertain audiences while they’re spending more time at home.
